Your Mental Matters ; You Matter

#AboutUs

#OurStory

In honor of our beloved younger brother, Tony Leshun Johnson Jr., who tragically lost his life to suicide at just 16 years old on June 5, 2019, we created the Long Live Tony Johnson Jr Inc. (#LLTJJR) nonprofit organization. The story of our loss is underscored by Tony's courageous plea for help, and our swift family response that was hindered by a lack of proper services and knowledge. Our mission emerged from our grief: to shed light on mental health issues and suicide prevention.

We are deeply committed to spreading mental health awareness and encouraging suicide prevention efforts, with the aim of sparing other families the profound pain of such a loss.

 #OurMission

Tony was one of over 47,500 people who died by suicide in America in 2019, according to the Centers for Disease Control. As these numbers rise, our mission is to break down the stigma around mental health. We want to normalize discussions of mental health, encourage people to seek help, understand warning signs, and equip them to handle mental health crises in themselves or their loved ones.

We want those affected by mental health issues to know: it's okay to not be okay. You are not alone.

In Tony's name, we seek to support those affected by mental health issues through scholarships, assistance with medical bills, treatment opportunities, mentorship, and more.

#OurCommitment

Every day, we strive to dismantle the barriers that prevent understanding and addressing mental health. We utilize awareness tools like T-shirts to engage the public in conversation and remind ourselves that our mental health matters too.

As our organization grows, so too does our vision and ambition to effect change. We actively participate in and host mental health events, including conferences, awareness walks, and information sessions.

We serve as a bridge in the community for those seeking mental health services, offering answers to vital questions like "Where do I go?" and "What do I do?" We provide information on warning signs, coping skills, and the importance of open conversations about mental health.

Our in-house therapist, Shawnnell Batiste, LPC, is available to provide expert advice and resources.
